Are breast lookers harasers?Posted by Nedra on September 06, 1999 at 08:39:51:
As a single female that has struggled for years to overcome a gang rape when I was nine years old, I finally landed the perfect job. I thought there would be a no harassment since this is a government job. Well I was wrong. I have a supervisor that looks at my breast as much as he looks at my face. Many of my coworkers also wink at me and look at my breast. Another man treates me like I am stupid and unfairly compairs my work to others that have 20 years experence. I have been on the job for only a month. Since I am a computer programmer it takes over a month to just get used to the database system. I feel very uncomfortable with these men. I did go to my supervisor and complained about this other person compairing my work to the experienced people. My supervisor did talk to this man but did say that I was being sensitive and have always been in a protected environment. I feel that I will lose this job if I speek up against anyone again. Since I am not the type of person that can hid my feelings very easy I know one day I will have to confront these men. Could anyone could give me some understanding about men looking at womens breast? Is looking at breast considered harasment? What would be the best way to confront a supervisor about his looking at my breast? Are there any laws that would protect me against being fired if I do speek up? Any information would be a great help.
