: As a female with some automotive knowledge, I am finding it more and more upsetting to be treated as if I know nothing and am waiting to be taken for a ride. Today when I requested a tire rotation(a service which I have a contract with this company to perform as part of my original tire purchase)be done prior to an alignment (that may be an unneccessary costly job after the rotation) the 'gentleman' ( a term I use loosely) laughed at me in front of other male customers, and then said 'if I listened to every brood that came into this place I would be out of business'. He then left me to wait 2 hours with no service. I finally left, disgusted and without any work being done to my vehicle. I did follow up with his direct supervisor, the district manager and the customer relations department. Although they are more than accomodating to get my car back in, they do not feel any disciplinary action need be taken with the employee that so blatantly sexually discriminated against me. As this is not the first time I have found this kind of discrimination in an automotive service environment I am wondering if anyone has prosecuted such sexual discrminiation, or if it is even something that can be filed with the local police department?

Well, take heart - it goes both ways. Gender bashing.
Technically, you can do nothing. They can ask you to leave the premises, since they have implied authority.
The police can do nothing either - against implied
authority. They cannot be dispatched.
You encountered etremely rude behavior.
You could file a complaint the the Attorney General's Office. Then they have to respond to it. That takes time. Also, you can toss in a complaint to the Better
Business Bureau. That goes back to them too.
See, now that they have said that no disiplinary action
will be taken... the Better Busines Bureau will be able
to move freely...
That will shut his mouth.. Once corporate has to spend
at least 20 hours on this responding to the attorney
general and better business bureau.
That's business.
What you encountered was a guy that was too self assurred.
