I am African American, 48, and District Chef for contract management company. In Dec of 05, I was hospitalised with mental issues directly related to work. I was granted FMLA effective Dec 2, 2005 and short term disability pay. STD is payable for up to 6 months and I expect to be out until it expires. Question: now that the FMLA has expired, does the company have to save my job for me? Can they fire me? Although the FMLA has expired I am still under Doctor's care, what can they do to me?
