High School DiscriminationPosted by Lise on October 28, 2003 at 10:45:35:
At my high school we have two males who have become unofficial mascots. The administration will not let them be on the track with cheerleaders during football games to support our team. These males paint their top half red and the other blue (that being our school colors.) They pay to get in all games and when they were down with the cheerleaders they cut flips of all sorts, something our cheerleaders don't do. I understand to a point where the school dosen't have them insured, but can't they sign some kind of liability agreement. The sexual discrimination towards them applies to the fact that the administration will not allow them to try-out for cheerleading, b/c they are of the male gender. Being a female I understand about sexual discrimination, I feel the administration has gone too far in the NO CHEERLEADING FOR MALES. As far as I know my school is the only one that has this rule. Can any of ya'll help me find other cases where this has happened and e-mail it to me @ the address above. Before I ruffle feathers I would like plenty of information to back me up in my opinion.
