I work for a small company of 6 employees. Two months ago I was offered two promotions: one as shop foreman and another as sign carver. For each I would receive a raise in pay. Two weeks later I discovered I was pregnant and told my boss. He has since post-poned the promotions until after the baby is born. He has also hired another male worker who has all but assumed every job that I have done there. I have researched the laws and can only find those supporting an individual who is employed by a company with more than 15 employees. Why 15? I have filed a complaint with the states commission against discrimination and was fired in retaliation. Where should I go now for info and advice? I have to prepare for a meeting with the commission and my former employer. I am concerned about unemployment benefits. Please help. I live in Massachusetts.
